SplitPro gives you one account that ties together all your groups and one-to-one balances with friends. It has more ways to split, recurring expenses, and it works in any browser. It is open source under the MIT license, so you can read the code or host it yourself.

Both apps are free with no daily limit on expenses. Tricount keeps one shared list per trip or household, in iPhone and Android apps.

Last checked October 14, 2026, against Tricount's own website and app store listings. SplitPro is our app.

Which should you pick?

Pick Tricount if you want a phone app with offline entry for a trip and people to join without an account.

Common questions

Is Tricount free?

Yes. Tricount says it is free with no limits. It is owned by the bank bunq. SplitPro is free too, with no daily limit.

Can I use SplitPro without an account, like Tricount?

Yes, with quick split. Add names and expenses and share one link; everyone can see and edit the split without signing up. For costs you share over time, a free account keeps a running tab across groups and friends.

Which is better for a trip abroad?

Tricount works offline and can show the trip total in one currency. SplitPro keeps each expense and balance in the currency you paid in, and needs a connection to add expenses.

Can I move from Tricount to SplitPro?

There is no Tricount importer. Settle up in Tricount, then create the group in SplitPro and add new expenses there.
